About Amira
It is SUCH a pleasure to find you all here!
I’m Amira (they/they). I am a multi-cultural, non-binary, pansexual being and a practicing solo polyamorist for the last six years. Half Dutch, half Lebanese and born in Cyprus, thoroughly marinated with neurospicy seasoning (AuDHD), I recognise myself to be a fruit basket of care, compassion and empathy. In my spare time I relish in working out in the gym, taking in the Scottish landscapes as often as my schedule allows, playing guitar and piano, getting myself tied up in knots (shibari enthusiast) and spending quality time with my three partners. I'm also very much integrated in, and work intrinsically with, the kink scene here in Scotland helping it by safeguarding and hosting regular events.
I have been on this path of self-discovery since 2012 where chronic injuries (HMS/ EDS) led to abruptly giving up being a professional dancer (BA(hons) - SSCD). I found support in different modalities which included body psychotherapy, and gentle physical rehabilitation through yoga.
During my yoga teacher training in 2014 with Ana Forrest, I met Ellen Heed (I have a big nerdy gay fan crush) which subconsciously planted a seed - however at the age of 21, Sexological Bodywork was impalpable; I was held back in fear of how the world would perceive me if I embarked on such a venture.
I’ve come a long way; I currently work as a Somatic Sexologist (2023), Consensual Touch & Intimacy Mentor, Forrest Yoga Instructor, Myofascial & Scar Tissue Bodyworker, and host Shibari workshops with my rope partner. I’m currently considering Sex Work and/or Sexual Surrogacy. I also have Ellen’s STREAM course on my radar.
Even with a full-on lifestyle I am serious when it comes to holding space within the framework. I aim to show up consistently and unapologetically with purpose. In the field, I offer an informative and interactive approach to sex(ual health) education, and help (both individuals, couples and polycules) explore consent and establish boundaries in a non-judgemental space. I also teach individuals (and consenting partners) about pelvic diaphragm health, hands on scar tissue remediation, pleasure coaching, genital mapping, embodied awareness, intimacy mentoring, and conscious kink.
I celebrate diversity and practice inclusivity, creating a nourishing container for each person to enjoy their own tailored journey into embodiment, empowerment, enhancement and wellness. My student’s bravery is deeply recognised and genuinely honoured, creating a supportive space for them to authentically show up as they truly are, fully embracing and expressing their unique selves without reservation. I couldn’t be prouder of them all.
I don’t see the world, I feel it (I’m also half-blind so that helps). I understand the importance and the healing that lies within the nervous system and fascia work. Sexological Bodywork is a deeper layer to the onion of discovery.
I’m honoured to be living in a time where such communities of radical acceptance exist, and I’m still on a mission to turn willing bodies into bodyworkers.
